Collage (2025)

I come to you in anger and exhaustion and in the acknowledgment that nothing can repair or new development codesigned-away the childhood and teenagehood lost to the feeling of you realising how little this council/government/country thinks you deserve, not even safe roof over your head.

As child, I was known to always be sick with colds and sleeping in a cold, damp and mouldy room, gaslight by the council about how bad the mould is in the house(Have you thought about not cooking so much in the house ? Might be making the mould worse?). Doctors notes written in vain because who really cares about another Black working class family in a mouldy house.

One thing I would think about was my lungs growing up, how much my environment was putting them through it and if my environment was the reason I ever ended up in early grave then maybe justice can be served ? But deaths of those in social housing as a result of neglectful landlords means the best they can do is a Law named after you and the worst is that they let your killers fail upwards.

If my housing contributed to my death, I wanted revenge. Let all those housing surveyors, over paid council heads, out of touch mayor, always photo op ready mp and useless revolving door of politicians/ part time landlords within parliament BE FED MY LUNGS. </image:caption>

I was reflecting on protests in the UK, from the Poll Tax to BLM and Just Stop Oil. All cause disruption as protests are meant to cause ‘serious disruption.’ But with the Public Order Act 2023, we are seeing an authoritarian clamp fown to criminalise how we protest and handing over more powers to the Police. None of us should be neutral over the attack on our right to choose how we protest! Free our political prisoners!
